It's Julienne's birthday today!!! Happy Birthday to that wonderful girl who will always be in my heart no matter the distance between us

Also, Mosogourmet tweeted me today and I just wanna cry because baking senpai noticed me ;__________;

By the way, it's finally August and there are exactly two weeks left before I leave for college and below are some things I want to keep in mind and take to heart:

"No writing is wasted. Did you know that sourdough from San Francisco is leavened partly by a bacteria called lactobacillus sanfrancisensis? It is native to the soil there, and does not do well elsewhere. But any kitchen can become an ecosystem. If you bake a lot, your kitchen will become a happy home to wild yeasts, and all your bread will taste better. Even a failed loaf is not wasted. Likewise, cheese makers wash the dairy floor with whey. Tomato gardeners compost with rotten tomatoes. No writing is wasted: the words you can’t put in your book can wash the floor, live in the soil, lurk around in the air. They will make the next words better." —Erin Bow
"You’ll be fine. Feeling unsure and lost is part of your path. Don’t avoid it. Take a breath. You’ll be okay even if you don’t feel okay all the time."
"The sun is perfect and you woke this morning. You have enough language in your mouth to be understood. You have a name, and someone wants to call it. Five fingers on your hand and someone wants to hold it. If we just start there, every beautiful thing that has and will ever exist is possible. If we start there, everything, for a moment, is right in the world." —Warsan Shire
"If you know yourself, you’ll not be harmed by what is said about you." —Arab proverb

Last time, I was obsessed with YouTube videos featuring EXO fanartists, this time I am obsessed with videos about baking! To be more specific, kawaii baking videos!!

Mosogourmet and kawaiisweetworld are my personal favorites but there are still so many more amazing people with equally amazing tutorials. Below are just some of the wonderful tutorials that I've been watching for the past few days:

I like kawaiisweetworld's tutorials because she makes everything look easy and simple! Plus, she has a soothing voice and everything she makes look too cute to eat.
TOTORO POP TARTS!!!

But Mosogourmet probably holds the throne to my baking heart because I love how all the tutorials just show how things are done and the actual procedure is just explained in the description box. Also, I was close to crying while watching this Matcha Tart tutorial because that looks heavenly ;~~~;
Mosogourmet also proves just how creative the Japanese are because in this video, they used watermelon as cake. /sobs. Plus, they've got lots of other tutorials about baking techniques (that I never knew existed) like how to make chocolate bowls using balloons and they've got this really cool tutorial on Illusion Strawberry Skeleton Jelly!!!

If you have time, please do check out these tutorials. They've been the cure to my boredom lately and everything is just ... fascinating *______*

This is me with fandom: EXO Fanartists

Today while I was waiting for the rice to cook, I went over to YouTube and started watching DVD previews from various Kyungsoo and Jongin fansites, and when I was scrolling through the Related and Recommended videos on the right side, I stumbled upon this breathtaking video:

and I am simply blown away that she managed to make this piece of beauty in 71 minutes!!!

And then good old Youtube recommended me some more fanart videos:

and after falling in love with these, I wanted more so I went here and as expected, I ended up watching everything OTL

My heart hurts because all the pieces are so achingly beautiful AUGH HOW DO YOU TALENT???

*coughs*

JUST GONNA LEAVE THIS HERE:

"It's true that Kpop companies are in it for the money. It's also true that some groups have no control over their career, though others have as much freedom as they need to do what they want. But even if their music and image is the fakest shit you've ever seen, it doesn't mean they are worthless and talentless. Just because they are a part of a company doesn't mean that their dreams, sweat, tears, hard work, sufferings, triumphs, and fans' love are meaningless. Talk shit all you want, but there's a reason Kpop groups are popular. They are talented, they are inspiring, and they are real people who have put in years of hard work to get where they are. Think about that before you hate on any group, because none of them deserve to be treated like shit."

Joaquin Zihuatanejo - "Final Exam for My Father"

This.

This has broken me in more ways than one and sewn back all my pieces together again in a painful yet utterly beautiful way. I don't only mean this because I can relate to the poet, but I can feel his passion, his emotions, his pain, and they have all seeped into my bones and suck the marrow out of me but at the same time, brought me back to life. I was a leaky faucet at the first few lines but then the tears just started spilling uncontrollably. I couldn't help them. They were a testament to all the things I've been hiding from people. This is the most inspiring video I have seen in a long while and I can only wish that I had the guts and the talent to do this as well.

Ugh, beautiful human beings.

Think of how many people have sat next to you on a bus, train, whatever. Now think how many people have sat next to you on purpose with their fingers crossed in hope that you’ll talk to them. I’m sure somebody has. There’s plenty of times when somebody’s seen you and hoped that you spoke to them, but you never did because you don’t have the guts and neither do they. Don’t go around thinking nobody likes you and that you’re not loved. There’s been plenty of times when a stranger has spotted you and thought “Oh, they’re just my type” but haven’t had the courage or confidence to open their mouth and initiate a conversation. The funny thing is, neither have you.
Damn. Damn damn damn damn damn damn damn.

Right in the heart, yo.

There is this Icelandic word skúffuskáld, which means someone who’s secretly a poet. It literally means “drawer poet”, someone who writes poetry but chugs it all into his desk drawer instead of showing it to people.

Aokigahara, Japan's Suicide Forest

Also known as the Jukai or “Sea of Trees,” Aokigahara has been described as “the perfect place to die.”

"At the foot of Mt. Fuji sprawls a 30-kilometer square forest called Aokigahara. Aokigahara is considered the most haunted place in all of Japan, where the unsettled ghosts known as “yurei” howl their suffering on the winds. The noises heard here might be considered natural in any other forest, but knowing the reputation of this place, people tend to freak out at the sound of squeaky branch. Of course, the scary stories about the trees themselves being filled with evil energy accumulated from centuries of suicides don’t help much either. Spiritualists go as far as to say the trees don’t want you to go back out of the forest." (cr: source)

"In the forest, one is also completely shrouded in darkness – save for the sporadic stream of sunlight from gaps in the treetops – and experiences an overwhelming silence, pressing in from all sides. As such, it’s a perfect place for solitude and reflection and correspondingly, is the perfect place to die. At least according to the 100 people who commit suicide here every year." (cr: source)

Currently, Aokigahara is considered the second most popular suicide location in the world, losing out only to the Golden Gate Bridge. Authorities have placed signs emblazoned with warnings, “Please reconsider” and “Think carefully about your children, your family”, at the entrance of the forest. (cr: source)

"Don't look for me."
A suicide note hung on one of the forest's trees.
