So yesterday I went to Kpop Faction 2013, the first fan gathering/convention to ever be held in Bacolod. I knew about the event months back when a friend of mine whom I just met on Twitter told me about it but I quickly declined her offer because to be honest, conventions aren't really my kind of thing? But last Saturday, I met Mikee (who happened to be the leader of the EXO stans for the fanchant battle) while on my way home and she told me about the faction and encouraged that I go to said event. Again, I declined because I didn't really know what I would do during these kinds of things. But another friend of mine begged that I go so that I could help them with the fanchant battle and after much persuasion from him, I eventually gave in and invited a few friends as well. And you know what? I'm really glad I went. Yesterday was so much fun! If I had the power to turn back time, I would jump at the offer of reliving yesterday again.
The event opened its gates at 10 a.m. but I arrived at SM around 9:15 because Chua told me to go there early so that I could get my walk-in pass. I also agreed to meet up with Faith and Kyla before 10 a.m. because they didn't know where the venue was.
After getting our walk-in passes, they still weren't letting people in and we just sort of listlessly waited behind the barricade. I was getting antsy just looking at all the merch booths and I couldn't help but thank the heavens that we were one of the first few people around because I wanted to be able to pick the things that I wanted to buy. Leftovers are a no-no.
You see that white tent at the back? It was actually a WIXING support and merch booth! I was pleasantly surprised to see them. I bought a set of Growl photocards from them and a Twinned Poison Luhan poster for KC. Several other booths were selling merch at reasonable prices and I don't think I'm buying anything for myself in the next few months what with all these newly-bought pins, posters, photocards, and postcards. Also, I bought cute Onew and Jongin socks! Highlight of my retail therapy, I swear, I'm such a sucker for cute socks /sobs/. At first, I just wanted to buy one pair but I think Kyla (?) encouraged me to buy them both and so I was like, "Oh, why the heck not?"
There was a Kpop Freedom Wall!
I have feelings.
After about an hour inside the event center, we went out for lunch at
McDonald's and then we went karaoke-ing! It was actually my first time and at first, we picked kpop songs like SHINee's Hello, SNSD's Run Devil Run, and then we also picked Justin Bieber's Baby to dedicate to Sehun but all the songs we picked weren't playing for reasons we couldn't fathom because they were clearly in the list of choices available (incompetent, outdated karaoke machine u_____u) so we just picked Open Arms and then we miserably failed OTL

Afterwards, we went back to the event center and the crowd tripled in number. We had trouble finding seats until we managed to score three empty seats in the very first row (hallelujah) but since there were four of us, we just sort of squeezed in together lol. There were games and Faith won in a guessing game when she guessed the rap part in a 4Minute song. I joined in one as well. I was supposed to guess whose voices from Super Junior, SHINee, and DBSK were singing certain lines from different songs and I lost by one point to the winner because I only knew the voices of SHINee and some of Super Junior's. At least I tried? ;~~~;
There were several other games besides the guessing games including a dance battle that was fucking hilarious and so much fun! There was this one mad talented 14-year old guy who practically knew all the steps to the songs that played and he slayed SNSD's I Got A Boy. He was fucking fantastic. There was a Pepero game as well lol
After the games was the much-awaited fanchant battle! Congratulations to the EXO team for winning!!! I'm so proud ahehe. I really enjoyed their performance because during 365, they roleplayed OTP moments!!! I was practically shrieking when the Kai roleplayer started lewd-dancing in front of the Kyungsoo roleplayer. THAT WAS GOLD. And Chua roleplaying Chanyeol's slip during K Rep ahahahahaha PRICELESS.
Oh, and our fanchats were pretty clean too ; u ;
After the fanchant battle, Faith and Kyla had to go home and I was kind of drained by that time as well. While Faith and Kyla headed home, Gea and I chilled over at Brew Ha! eating Melona bars and talking about random things from kpop groups to school-related stuff. After about 30 minutes, my mom called me telling me to meet up with her at the Department Store to buy new jeans so Gea and I parted ways.
Yesterday was a really really really good day. Thank you so much to the three people who were with me yesterday and to the people who encouraged me time and time again to go to the event despite my initial refusal. The ache and soreness I feel in my bones right now is more than worth it ♡
