Home Decor through Polyvore

So I've gone back to my summer habit of visiting Polyvore and going over their collections. I frequently did this back when I was thirteen, I think, when I didn't have better things to do. I would explore the site and pore over their clothes, mixing and matching outfits and publishing collections. I mainly just did those things for fun and to release out my inner frustrations because I actually have a style of my own, it's just that I can't find good enough clothes that are within my budget to project what I really want. Anyhoo, I'm back on Polyvore with a new account because I forgot the password to my old one and this time, instead of focusing on clothes, I'm focusing on home decor!

This new pastime is actually brought about by the fact that I'll be living on my own when college comes. I'm going to my future university on Monday with Anne Mary to submit our requirements and we're also going dorm-hunting so I went through Polyvore's collections for some inspiration! I'll be living with three other friends and the four of us will be sharing one room but I can't wait to decorate my own space and make it my home for the next ten months that I'll be away from where I am right now.

Explanations for each of the pieces chosen above are under the jump break!

Of course, I'd be asking for waaaayy too much space from my dorm-mates if I were to just plunk all these items because the dorm rooms in UP are considerably small. When I made this set, I actually didn't really have dorm decor in mind but home decor in general! So the following pieces are home essentials that I want for my future home:

  • Loveseat - I adore loveseats! I prefer them over large sofas because they're small and cozy and they don't take up too much space. Especially since I have plans of just living in an apartment, loveseats seem more practical compared to sofas. Also, I have an inkling I'll only be using them when I watch television and seeing as I don't watch much television, I won't really need such a big one to sprawl over.
  • Ball chair - I fell in love with this chair the moment I saw it. It's the perfect place to curl up into a ball (pun intended) with a good book or write poetry. Also I feel like I can just forget about the world when I'm sitting on (in?) it.
  • Coffee table - Yeah, that treasure chest up there is actually a coffee table! Neat, isn't it? I want one. I can store things inside it too which is a major plus.
  • Shower and bath - Duh lmao I need to be clean. Because I can't really do much decorating with a shower and a bath tub, I want the shower curtains to have floral prints like the ones in the set.
  • Lamp - I want a lamp on my bedside table for reading purposes and I stumbled upon this incredibly cute bunny-designed one! I'm salivating huhuhuhu
  • Bed - I'm not so particular with beds, I just want a soft and wide one with lots of pillows. If there's one thing I want my bed to have though, it's drawers to store my books in. Saves the space of having a bookcase.
  • Plants - MY HOUSE NEEDS TO HAVE INDOOR PLANTS. Cacti and sunflowers and little bushes to be specific. I can place the sunflowers next to the windowsill so that they'd be bathed in enough sunlight.
  • Rugs - I have a deep fondness for rugs. I want ones with those color schemes up above or ones with earth tones. I love rugs.
  • Mugs - Know what I'm going to do with cute mugs? Aside from tea and coffee, they're going to serve as POTS FOR MY PLANTS. Daisies in a mug, tell me I'm not the only one who thinks that's lovely.
  • Window curtains - Just ones with a nice, simple print.
  • Painting - I'm going to paint my walls with cherry blossoms. It is a must.

If you noticed, I like a lot of things that have a certain nature-ish (for lack of a better word) to them. I like earth tones and the color of the ocean and floral prints. These are just some of the things I wish to see in my future home, what about you? If you have time to spare, head over to Polyvore and start decorating! I know you probably have lots of ideas inside that creative little mind of yours and maybe it's time to transform those ideas into something that you can go back to when the future comes and you're stuck in a rut in regards to decorating your humble abode. Or you can just do it for fun!

Happy decorating!
