Favorite SHINee Perf #3

Before anything else, let me just say how much I absolutely disliked this song when I first listened to it because it sounded ridiculous but then they came out with this dynamic performance and it was all sorts of awesome and my opinion of the song took a 360-degree turn. They pulled it off and they pulled it off well.

This has everything I could possibly want in a performance: strong live vocals, enjoyable to watch choreography, commendable stage presence and enthusiasm, and fabulous clothes complete with fabulous hair (because OH-EM-GEE have you seen Taemin?).

And I'll never get over the fact how these five boys manage to dance and sing live at the same time. SHINee is already filled to the brim with talent and right now, I applaud them for their stamina as well. Stranger's choreography is not as hard or as physically demanding as Sherlock, but you can tell it tires the boys out too (what with stage rehearsals and numerous camera takes). It looks simple and easy, in a deceiving sort of way. Improvement is also evident in each member, even Minho, and you can tell that they really worked hard for their comeback. 

Lastly, what I always love whenever I'm watching a live performance - the fanchants. Absolutely adore the fanchants in Stranger and I will always be at awe over how Korean Shawols have so much discipline and manage to unite as one strong voice to support the boys. It makes my heart ache. I love my fandom.

Can I just say, what a way to make a comeback? SHINee showed all those rookie groups what they're made of and how it's really done and they slayed. Bless these boys and their abilities.

December 26, 2010 - A.Mi.Go (Rock Version) at 1st Concert in Tokyo

Never mind Taemin's bad hairstyle, or the fact that they have two microphones on which looks a bit ridiculous, or the "Cold, heart, baby" that up to now, never fails to make me laugh. Or even the head-banging (Taemin is still as graceful as ever).

A.Mi.Go has always been one of my favorite SHINee songs and this rock version definitely beats the original in more ways than one. I love the pumped-up energy, the screaming fans which just add more spirit and vigor to the performance, SHINee's enthusiasm, Taemin's outrageous high note before the 1st chorus, Jonghyun's equally outrageous high note before he takes to the air like a gorgeous flying bat, Minho's rap which actually sounds good and relevant (that fool), Taemin sweating (I just had to), and the fact that A.Mi.Go sounds so ridiculously good as a rock remix. And you can really see that the boys enjoyed this performance, especially our resident frustrated rocker Jonghyun, and sometimes, that's all that matters. 

Plus, the pearlescent sky blue ocean of Shawols looks beautiful. It makes me want to jump right in and drown with the rest of my love for these guys.

October 12, 2008 - Medley of Replay, One For Me, Best Place, and Love like Oxygen

Everything in this performance is near perfection. The intro of Replay, the outfits, the choreography, the medley of the songs, the blending of their voices, their synchronization, the way they handled the stage, even Jonghyun's lack of voice control, they all seemed to fit in all the right places.

This performance was also a medley of all my favorite songs from their first album (excluding Romantic and The SHINee World) which is probably the main reason why I chose this. And this perf also proves just how polished they were as a rookie group at that time when they were just beginning to grow better and fully develop and hone their skills. Also, it is very hard to sing whilst dancing to a complicated dance routine, but they managed to make it look effortless.

Lastly, the fanchants left me goosebumps. It's always nice to hear them but I've never heard one that was chanted with so much clarity, so much unity, so much love.
