Holy smokes! Taemin smokes?! 2.0 because he actually does

Fair warning: This post went from being okay to being all over the place.

I've been having my suspicions for a long time now because let's be real, even the most seemingly-innocent idols are anything but the spruced-up, clean-cut images that entertainment companies throw their way in order to appease fans and let them think that their oppas are perfect creatures sent on Earth to become ideal human beings who only do good things. So of course, when something like this surfaces on social networking sites, mayhem is bound to happen and personal opinions are being flung from one corner of the world to another as fans start laying down their thoughts on the matter at hand. And where do I stand? I'm in between accepting and being mildly disappointed.

I still stand by what I said last year (see post here) and now that we have actual legitimate proof (to all the fans saying it's just a lollipop, I am laughing obnoxiously at you), I would be lying if I said I wasn't sad about this because I am sad. I AM SO SAD. I am so sad because I thought he had it better in him, I am so sad because wow he really is all grown up now you da man Taeman, I am so sad because I am worried for the sake of his lungs and his voice and his career and his life in general. Korean Shawols want out goddamnit!!! And I wouldn't be so affected by this if SHINee didn't need them for album sales and winnings on music shows. Honestly, I could care less about fans wanting to leave the fandom because heck those are their own personal choices but I know that SHINee's going to be sad about this and that's what makes me sad. SAD SHINee EQUALS A SAD CHRYSS.

Moving on though, the reason why I'm so accepting and open in regards to this issue is because I personally think that it doesn't wholly change Taemin as a person. Smoking doesn't instantly make him a bad guy and someone told me that he's being a bad role model for the younger generation and I'm well aware that a lot of young kids nowadays look up to him but are we seriously going to be degrading someone because he's doing what every boy his age in Korea seems to be doing as well? Smoking is very much accepted in the South Korean society and smoking isn't even that big of a deal there because I've read from somewhere that their cigarettes don't even contain nicotine?? I'm talking in questions because I'm very frustrated??? Because even though I accept him smoking, I am also a tiny teeny-weeny little bit disappointed in him???? Of course. What kind of a fan would I be if I just approved of him destroying his lungs. BAD FAN, THAT'S WHAT. CHRYSS, DON'T BE A BAD FAN.

Smoking ultimately goes against my morals and having Lee Taemin (my ultimate bias, love of my life, the sun to my shine) smoking isn't going to change my opinion about it. Not in the slightest bit. If you're reading this, I hope you never find it in you to start the life-threatening habit. I think his health being a serious issue here is also why I'm disappointed in him. And it's no wonder his voice has become a bit raspy.

I'm actually a little bit amused by the turn of events because SM Entertainment has given SHINee that cute preppy-boy stealing noonas' hearts image but for the past couple of months, they've been caught up in a lot of trouble. Onew's dating scandal, Jonghyun proclaiming he's pro-LGBT (I LOVE YOU SO MUCH, JONGHYUN), and now Taemin with this. They're defying the reputation standards of SM and going out-of-character but I feel like it's also their way of saying: I'M DONE WITH YOUR SHIT, SME. GET ME OUT OF THESE COLORED SKINNY JEANS AND LET ME BE THE MAN MY FATHER ALWAYS WANTED ME TO BE.

Okay, I think I should stop here, I'm not even making sense anymore. If you really want my thoughts on the whole thing, I think it's a wiser choice to just head over to this post and read my comments.

TAEMIN, YOU'RE STILL NUMERO UNO IN MY CORAZON.
