Part Uno talked about my pre-concert experience, Part Dos talks a little about the opening acts and Dal Shabet but all in all, it's mainly EXO-centric. Part Tres will be all about SHINee.
Fair warning: This is 2.5k words worth of Chryss feelings. Read at your own risk, my love. In bullets form because I was incoherent and trying not to cry while writing this. Venture on now, little one.
- The lights finally dimmed and everybody started screaming. I could feel the whole Araneta Coliseum vibrating with the most electrifying energy I’ve ever felt in my whole entire life and my heart was beating wildly. At this point, I couldn’t scream yet because I was fucking lost in a trance. I couldn’t believe that it was finally happening. I took deep breaths and readied my camera.
- The hosts came out and started talking about the concert and kpop in general (the Hallyu Wave in the Philippines and all that shenanigans). The female host was a Korean, Jinri Park. She’s a model, I think? Anyway she was gorgeous and spoke very good English. The male host was Christian Bautista, a rather famous singer in our country. They asked six people from the audience (I’m guessing they already picked the contestants ahead of time) to dance Gangnam Style and the three people who would get the loudest cheers will get to dance with the special guests. I’ll be frank – it never happened. Major disappointment to them lol
- After that mini dance game segment whatever, the lights went out again and they played “Time of My Life” by the Black Eyed Peas and it was just like one huge fandom party. Everybody was dancing and screaming and there was even a light show going on. I got a little bit teary-eyed during the chorus because the lyrics hit home. The light show was so pretty uwaaaaaa *^*
- First to perform were Soomin and Crispi Crunch! They performed 4 songs together and they did a really good of getting the crowd pumped up. I actually genuinely enjoyed myself during their performances, despite never having heard any of their songs before. Their songs are really catchy by the way! The “Thumbs Up” song (forgot the title, sorry ;;) has been stuck in my head ever since lol. After their joint stages, Soomin had a solo performance and she did quite well although I couldn’t really understand the words she was singing even though she sang an English song. The fans were really polite too, clapping and cheering at all the right moments. All in all, they were a good opening! J
- Next was Dal Shabet! I don’t really know them and to be honest, it was my first time hearing their songs but they were all really cute and pretty! Woohee (she’s the only one I know) was the most adorable thing ugh. Some of them kept on messing up the dance moves and were a little bit off-timing but other than that, they did well. I don’t really like their group concept and sound all that much though. Just…not my type? They were too cutesy for me, I usually like my girl groups ala f(x) hehe. Also, they spoke in tinny voices and did so much aegyeo that it made me a bit uncomfortable seeing fully grown women making cute faces and doing gwiyomi lol. I was sitting for the most part during their segment, prepping myself up for the shitstorm that is EXO-K. Kpop Republic didn’t make me a Dal Shabet fan, but I’m thankful I had the pleasure of getting to see them live. First girl group to see perform in person, hooray!
- When the lights dimmed after Dal Shabet said good-bye, the screams became DEAFENING. I was making ugly sobbing noises as well and I felt like my heart was going to jump right out of my chest cavity and I couldn’t breathe properly I don’t know I was just so fucking nervous??? I MEAN I WAS FINALLY GOING TO SEE EXO-K IN THE MOTHERFUCKING FLESH AFTER MONTHS OF CRYING OVER THEIR FLAWLESSNESS. They first showed video clips on the wide screen and I’m going to admit I screamed like a maniac when I saw Sehun’s and Kyungsoo’s faces (shameless). And then I fucking saw them walk out of the backstage but the lights were still out so I could only see the outline of their faces and bodies but when I saw Sehun getting into position (I could tell that it was him because he was front and center), that’s when I finally lost it. I think I fucking screamed my head off.
- They first performed Wolf. As much as I want to show you guys my fancam, it’s extremely shaky and filled with bloodcurdling screams so if you watch it, you’ll probably just get annoyed. I know I would if I were in your place.
- They looked so tall! Except for Kyungsoo!! He looked really tiny!!! Even Baekhyun looked tall but Kyungsoo just looked like a small porcelain doll that you’d want to keep in your pocket huhuhuhu so precious <3
- When I first laid eyes on Jongin, all hell broke loose. Man, he really does exude charisma and when he dances, it’s like he has actual music coursing through his veins instead of blood, it’s incredible! Fucking amazing!! So wonderful I wanted to go up on stage and take him home!!! /sooooooooooobs
- Chanyeol was so freaking tall that when he went to my section and was standing right in front of me, I looked up on him and WOW GIANT ATTRACTIVE DUDE HELLO THERE YOU MAKE ME WANT TO CRY BECAUSE WHY ARE YOU SO CLOSE OH MY GOD PLEASE DON’T GO AWAY NO DON’T LEAVE
- Baekhyun was really cute, like a little puppy! He was really enthusiastic as well! He probably had the biggest energy that night alongside Chanyeol. I loved Baekhyun, he was really warm to the fans and smiled a lot.
- DON’T EVEN LET ME START ON OH FUCKING SEHUN. He got the loudest cheers and screams next to Jongin (why am I not surprised? Le sighhh). One important thing you need to know about him is that HE DID NOT LOOK REAL. HE WAS TOO FUCKING GOOD-LOOKING??? When I looked at him, I felt like punching myself in the gut. Seriously who allowed him to have a face omg I was so angry
I may or may not have screamed the loudest for Sehunbut PUNK NEVER WENT TO MY SECTION UGH SMH- Wait, let me get back to the performances oh god sorry if this fan account is all over the place…just like my feelings u___u
- After Wolf, they performed History and I almost burst into rainbow sparkles of happiness. I really wanted to see History live because I’ve always liked the intricate choreography and it’s my favourite EXO dance track next to Let Out The Beast and wow I was just so happy
- After the first chorus, when it was Suho’s turn to sing, I shouted “Gwapoooooo, omg KC, gwapo!!!” Suho’s her bias and I was overwhelmed with my emotions because seeing Suho up close and personal made me want to eat my own words when I once said that he was only average-looking (idol-wise). HE WAS NOT AVERAGE-LOOKING AT ALL, HE WAS REALLY HANDSOME HUHUHU. His photos do not justify him at all!!! He is so much more attractive in person especially when he has this certain serious expression while performing.
- Oh, right, during History, Jongin did this cute little wave that wasn’t part of the choreo but the way he waved to the fans was so adorable ugh why is he so endearing
- After History came the introductions! Chanyeol was really friendly and so was Baekhyun! As I said before, the two of them were the most enthusiastic that night. Chanyeol said “Mahal Kita” several times and I only found out a week ago that he had actually written the Hangul equivalent of the words on his wrist so that he won’t forget them. Such a sweet gesture awww ;;;
- When it was Sehun’s turn to talk, he kept on looking at his palm and I figured that maybe he had his message written there. Cute little moron. He just kept on talking in Korean and at one point, I shouted, “What are you saying?!” (shameless)
- JONGIN SAID I LOVE YOU AND MAYBE I SCREAMED IT BACK AT HIM WHO KNOWS I THINK I WAS DRUNK JUST FROM SEEING THEM
- Kyungsoo was so cute when he did his intro!!! (but of course everything Babysoo does is cute lels) He took a deep breath before bellowing “Hellooo, Philippines!” and had this adorable gummy smile on his face and I almost died right then and there.
- (wait for it……………)
- (c’mon you probably saw this coming……………………..)
- (or did you? But anyway………………………….)
- WHEN KYUNGSOO SMILES, SUN SHINES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- No, but seriously! Like literally, when you see him smile, it’s like the heavens open up and angels with holy grails and golden harps start singing lullabies. His smile can probably cure cancer and when he smiles, he makes you want to adopt stray kittens off the street.
- Baekhyun said, “I love you, Philippines!” We love you too, Baek ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
- After the introductions, they sat down on the mini staircase on stage and I was like, “Oh, okay, are they going to perform Baby, Don’t Cry?” but HELL NO THE INTRO TO XOXO PLAYED AND I SCREAMED AND LUNGED FOR MY PHONE AND CALLED KC (I promised her I would call her if ever they performed it)
- I heard XOXO live. My life as an EXO stan is complete (lmao just kidding I need to hear Into Your World and What is Love and My Lady live)
- Okay, so now is probably the best time to break down the snapback moment and how I managed to get it. It was already nearing the end of the song and I still hadn’t gotten over how close Chanyeol and Kyungsoo had been to me (during one of the choruses, they were right in front of me) that I was having trouble focusing on things. EXO-K was all over the stage that you basically didn’t know where or specifically who to look at. My eyes just so happened to land on Jongin because he was walking down the middle aisle and I saw a cap on his head and I wondered when he’d gotten it (I wasn’t able to see the Sekai moment when Sehun put the cap on him sobbeu). Then out of nowhere, he took it off and then threw it to the crowd like he didn’t give a single flying fuck and I’m like, “Holy shit, whoever’s gonna get that is fucking lucky” and I didn’t even get my hopes up on catching it because he threw it from the aisle and I was so sure that someone from the SVIP section was going to catch it. But hey, what do you know, a fan was about to catch the cap but it slipped from her hold and another fan’s hand that probably planned on getting it as well managed to toss it to somewhere near my section but the cap landed close to the stage, where no fans were supposed to enter (there was a barricade). My eyes widened at that point and I looked from left to right and then dashed to the area where it landed near the stage. I heard a bouncer shout (we weren’t allowed to leave our seats) but I didn’t even care as I ran and then dropped to the floor and started crawling, trying to reach for the snapback despite the barricade. When I finally managed to get a hold of it, I screamed and then ran back to my seat, feeling like I fucking won the lottery. Unbelievable.
- The cap is beside my pillow at the moment and I sleep next to it every night because I’m insane. It has Sehun’s fingerprints and Jongin’s sweat evaporated there. It has the essence of Sekai. SEKAI. OF ALL THE EXO MEMBERS, I GOT SOMETHING FROM MY TWO BIGGEST LIFE-RUINERS. It’s like the world is playing a huge prank on me. THANK YOU. (No but seriously, I’m incredibly thankful).
- The 365 performance was really fun! Everyone just seemed to be enjoying themselves and this was also the performance wherein they threw stuffed toys and plushies to the fans! I think you guys obviously know about the Chanbaek proposal so I won’t delve deeper into that, I’ll let the photos that spread around like wildfire speak for themselves (hooray Baekyeol shippers, your otp has been resurrected!). Instead, let me tell you about the moment when Chanyeol slipped on some fan letters that were thrown on stage.
- When he slipped and fell, I kind of shrieked because I initially thought that he’d gotten himself hurt or something and my heart fucking dropped. But when he got up and started jumping and pointing at the floor (blaming the letter lmao), I thought to myself, “Oh my god Park Chanyeol, you can’t do this to me.”
- Chanyeol threw a husky to my section and Kyungsoo also threw a plushie but I didn’t catch them because short arms, short height, short everything gdi
- When I saw Sehun dancing during the chorus (out of sync), I laughed so hard oh my god he looked so lost and dumb (but still so attractive WHY ;;;;;;;)
- After 365, they talked to us fans again and sang Hawak Kamay!!! Only Sehun wasn’t singing along I think (insufferable brat). They messed up during the last few lines of the chorus but it was really sweet and the fans behind me were so emotional awww they must’ve been reliving DKFC. It was nice to be able to sing a Tagalog song with EXO even though my voice was raspy and I was waving my light stick around like a maniac.
- Funny because when Chanyeol said, “Last song”, everyone screamed “NO!” and I was confused at first because I thought he said “La so” and I was like, “What, is he singing the sofa syllables?” but then he continued saying, “EXO’s last song, popular song” and I was like “Aaaaah~ last song… LAST SONG OH MY GOD NO”
- Growl was fantastic. Sehun was so lazy (or maybe he was already tired idk) but Jongin fucking killed it. Jongin fucking slayed. It was amazing watching Jongin perform.
- Main reason why I tried so hard to take a good fancam of Growl was because I was witnessing EXO history since it was the first time for Growl to be performed by 6 members only. Even though I would’ve loved to see it performed with 12 members, EXO-K still did a really good job. So proud of them <3
- And then you know after Growl, they left the stage, leaving me with broken pieces of myself to assemble together again.
- BUT SHINee WAS UP NEXT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- SHINee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- SHINEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!
*to be continued
