Rough draft.

When the girl with the prominent red riding hood woke up on that morning, she found the air damp and a little bit too humid for comfort. The girl, more famously known as Little Red Riding Hood, but since she wasn’t so little any longer, being at the peak of her teenage years, nobody really knew what to call and make of her anymore. She didn’t even know what to call herself. The writers never thought of giving her a proper name.

She sighed as she got up wearily, eyes still droopy from sleep, and walked into the kitchen to wash her face and prepare some breakfast. As she turned on the stove, she momentarily took a peek out her window, which overlooked the Disney Princesses’ magnificent castles, and she couldn’t help the sagging feelings of wistfulness, longing, and deprivation that coiled inside her chest.

How come she wasn’t given a majestic palace with turrets and towers and a Prince Charming with whom she can spend her happily ever after with? How come she wasn’t like Cinderella, with her very own sob story and a fairy godmother and a fabulous ball gown? How come she wasn’t like Sleeping Beauty, who was useless and pathetic because all she ever did was sleep but still, she managed to get kissed by a handsome prince? How come she wasn’t like Snow White, who was probably one of the most gullible and jaded fairytale characters out there, but still survived after eating the poisoned apple? They all got their happy endings and she despised them for that, even though she knew it wasn’t their fault.

So I’m currently writing this ‘Mixed Fairytale’ for Creative Writing in English class and I’m stuck. The whole purpose is that we’re supposed to mix up different kinds of fairy tales and incorporate them together into one story and mine is an angst-y rendition of Little Red Riding Hood in which she’s at the peak of her teenage years and starts feeling deprived and longs for a happy ever after like the ones everybody else has. And I plan to partner her up with the hunter from Snow White and I really don’t know what to do at the moment. Lmao this is due tomorrow.
