"The amount that SHINee has gotten better at singing and dancing from Replay to Everybody is literally astounding. I remember when Onew and Jonghyun had 80% of the singing lines and Taemin was in the center of almost every important choreography. Looking at Everybody now, the dancing is almost uniform in quality (of course Taemin is still the best) and the role “main vocalist” is barely even relevant. I don’t know any other modern Kpop group that has so effectively grown beyond their individual strengths. It speaks volumes both that they could lose their main vocalist for half a comeback, and make up the lines with two members whose original role wasn’t even singing (Key and Taemin), and that by the end of Everybody, every member sans the rapper managed to sing the same high note, each with the same amount of power. SHINee’s doing something amazing in Kpop, and they’re going to become a new standard for other groups to strive for."

I spent last Friday night watching all of their music videos from Replay to Everybody (including their Japanese mvs) and comparing performances and I think I left a piece of my heart somewhere along the way.
